How To Use A Gua Sha

We've added a 'gua sha' to our facial serum product as an option. But what is it and what does it do and how do I use it, we hear you ask?

What is a gua sha?

Gua sha (gwar-shar) is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves moving across or 'scraping' your skin with a smooth-edged tool to help improve circulation and reduce puffiness.

Gua sha practice is believed to break up stagnant energy called chi, which practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation and in the body. Inflammation oftens manifests itself as puffiness in the face or what looks like water retention. Using this tool can help sculpt the face and take away that puffiness.

Where do I use it?

Gua sha is generally used on the face and neck. It can also be performed on the back, buttocks, arms, and legs.

How do I use it?

You start by applying an oil or serum to the area you want to work on. This helps the tool glide across the skin as you scrape in an upward or downward motion.
