Summer Holidays Collection

An afternoon of seasonal, hands on fun and inspiration for our younger friends and their parents/guardians, here at our Malton store, under the careful, guiding eye of our fully trained on-site team.

An opportunity for children over 7 years old to try something new and exciting at our bath bomb and lip balm making session and to take home with pride, their lovely, handmade goodies, after the session too. 

Designed especially with fun and creativity in mind, this workshop will teach children how to safely make their own sparkly, fizzy bath bombs and peppermint lip balms, all from natural ingredients. Their 'makes' can then be taken home to be used and gifted to family and family friends. With help and guidance along the way from our experienced Cosy Cottage product makers, this small group activity is sure to be a firm favourite for our younger customers. 

We provide all the ingredients and materials needed.  All that's needed is enthusiasm and a smile. The session will last one and a half hours and the children will take home their own handmade goodies -  8 fizzy bath bombs and 2 peppermint lip balms. 

Workshop suitable for children 7 years and over. Limited spaces available. 

Please bring an apron or art shirt in case of small spills on the day!

Geranium -  with the uplifting scent of rosy geranium and a delicate hint of sweet orange. A firm favourite with our customers who return to this rose-like fragrance again and again.

Sweet Orange - this fresh, energising, fruity fragrance is a favourite all year round but especially for Spring and Summer and is achieved by the addition of sweet orange essential oil.

We are delighted to offer this packaged make-at-home soap kit so you are able to enjoy making your own natural, palm oil free soaps from the comfort of your home. There is sweet orange fragrance included but if you'd like to make fragrance free, you can leave this out.

The kit contains everything you need, pre-weighed in your very own soap-making pack and includes a disposable mould. You can make your soaps while watching our demonstration video (via the link above) or watch the video first then make the soap later at your own pace.

This is a great book of luxury soap-making recipes from one of the most popular soapmaking tutors in the US (where they traditionally make many more soaps than we in the UK). This collection of 32 recipes ranges from simple castile bars to intricate swirls, embeds, and marbled and layered looks.

This is a beginner-friendly guide has everything you need to make 18 lovely soaps with recipes which use only natural ingredients that are kind to the skin and our environment.  This book has comprehensive information on where to start, what you need, the book and  includes some great tips on utensils, safety issues to consider.

Our robust and resillient 900g soap moulds are ideal for the small batch soapmaker and are the correct size to use with our FREE downloadable Maker's Friend soapmaking recipes and ingredients available via this website.

Each wooden mould is sufficintly solid to hold the shape of your setting soap and the silicone liner enables a smooth, professional finish, and an easy turnout when your soap is ready to cut. There is no need for the complexity, wastefulness or cost of for additional clingfilm or paper liners with these practical and fit for purpose moulds. 

Just pour your soap at  the point of trace, use the lid to retain heat if desired, leave to set to cutting consistency, turnout and slice. Remember to wear gloves, an overall and eye protection during these stages of the process.

Each mould is ideal ideal for up to 12 small or six large soaps and once set, your soap can be cut to the size of your choice. 

These moulds will last you well through your soapmaking adventures and seldom need to be replaced.

Just rinse in hot water after each use and dry very thoroughly 

Castor oil is a liquid triglyceride, renowned as an antiinflamatory agent and said to be good for acne and puffiness. 

Our refined castor oil is pressed from the ripe fruit of the Rinicus communis trees grown in India.

The produst is a lightly coloured liquid at room temperature in the UK. It is also largely fragrance free making it a very versatile ingredient, suitable for making a variety of fragranced and unfragranced products.

Handmade Dinosaur Soap For Children & Babies

A special, soapy, prehistoric somebody is dying to join you at bathtime!

Our tame and friendly dinosaur soaps are moulded from our extra-gentle shea butter baby soap, fragranced with a little caring chamomile essential oil. Superb for children and babies from four weeks and over and loved already by many adults with sensitive skin. 

Each little dinosaur is presented in a jolly gift bag made from the plant material, cellulose, which will compost within 12 months. The bags are tied with ribbon and a special Cosy Cottage gift tag. These little treats are guaranteed to encourage even the most reluctant tots into the bath or shower!

Our 35g natural, handmade baby soap is created using a gentle blend of coconut oil, shea butter and extra virgin olive oil. We add no artificial colourings, stabilisers or preservatives.

The babies and infants range contains no synthetic fragrances; we prefer instead to add a hint of Roman Chamomile Essential Oil. Chamomile is frequently used in natural remedies and herbal medicine for the relief of skin problems and rashes and is an aromatherapy staple for calming and stress relief. 

This product is completely free from the drying effects of detergents such as SLS, SLES or related synthetic chemicals or surfactants. It contains no animal derived ingredients and is suitable for vegans. Like everything we produce, our baby soap is cruelty free; we never test on animals, only willing family members, colleagues and other human volunteers. 

We have worked closely with a fully qualified midwife and an independent,  professional cosmetic safety assessor to ensure the quality and safety of our range.

As with all soaps and bathing products, please avoid contact with the eyes.

Geranium essential oil is created from distilled flowers of geranium, an essential oil which is known for its skin renewal and tichtening properties, in a ddition to its popular and uplifting rose-like scent

The INCI name for this oil is Pelargonium Graveolens and documentation may be downloaded from our site.

Patchouli essential oil is created from distilled leaves and stems of the herb. The intense, evocative and woody fragrance is popular with both men and women and patchouli oil has frequently been cited as beneficial for acne and other skin conditions.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil is created from the zest of the Citrus Sinensis variety of orange and is known for its uplifting and calming properties. 

The INCI name for this oil is Citrus Sinensis and documentation may be downloaded from our site.   

Beeswax makes a useful addition to other triglyceride blends used in soapmaking and helps to enhance the long-lasting properties and hardness of your handmade soaps. 

These pellets, created from centrifuged, melted beeswax, are particularly useful as their small size will melt more readily than large tablets or lumps. The product is only very lightly fragranced so will not interfere with the resulting, chosen fragrance of your home made soaps or balms.

Our cold pressed extra virgin olive oil is created from olives grown in glorious olive groves in the sunny Mediterranean. This fragrant oil is particularly beneficial for skincare and is rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, polyphenols, & phytosterols. All of these components help with skin and hair health.

Another component of olive oil is hydroxytyrosol, which helps with preventing free radical damage to the skin.

This premium grade oil retains its natural aroma yet does not overpower added fragrances when used in soap-making.

Our refined coconut oil is 100% coconut oil (unlike several similarly named products, which are actually derived from a combination of coconut and palm oils or just palm oil). 

The product is solid or buttery at room temperature in the UK, white when solid and transparent when liquid. It is also largely fragrance free making it a very versatile ingredient, suitable for making a variety of fragranced and unfragranced products.

The fractionation (refining) process, is essentially heating up and cooling down process to shorten the lengths of the natural carbon chains, rather than a process which involves adding anything to the coconut oil.

HOW TO USE:

On Fabric Stains:

Rub the Cosy Cottage household cleaning bar directly onto stains, hand wash and rinse. Repeat as desired for stubborn stains or use as a pre-wash treatment before putting into the washing machine. Very stubborn stains may take 2x treatments.

For hand washing and pre-wash soaking on stubborn stains, allow the bar to soak for 1 minute to moisten the soap and then apply directly onto stains and leave to soak.

On Kitchen and other hard Surfaces:

Rub the bar onto your cloth/sponge and apply to the surface to clean. For burnt on food or stubborn grease, leave for 5 minutes and wipe off to remove stains. Rinse as required.
